Metal On ATX Pan Magnet

Any ideas on where this piece came from in the trans? Found it in the pan on the magnet when doing a fluid change. It looks like part of a washer, but it's not flat, it has curvature like a washer that goes under a spider gear from a rear wheel drive diff.
