Starting to get closer to the painting of my SHO, and I was toying around with the idea of a matte finish in black, I know I remember someone had one on here that they bought proffesionally sprayed that way, looking for some pics!

Or if matte isn't your thing, persuade me into another color! Anything darker will do fine. :thankyou:

If you're going to do a matte finish, I would do a 2 stage, black (or grey) and something like PPG Flex'd and Flat for the clear.

Please don't just primer it...

It won't be primer, it will be actual matte paint, and will be cleared if I do go that route... :thankyou:

yeah, hard to argue with Gen 1>gen 2 in the looks dept.

There is a huge Difference between a Matte or Flate finished 2 stage and primer sprayed on from a kylon can between bong hits to '****** out' your ride.

glad to hear you plan on doing it right.

Not sure who made the stuff for this finish, but I have a little left, and its pretty stinky paint.. :) But I know he only put the color on it.. there is no clear coat on the G1. Then we just waxed it as is... afraid if it was clear coated it would look too shiny and defeat the purpose..

Oh man thanks so much for the pics, seeing that just makes me want to go through with it even more. Do you know who made the paint or what the specific #'s are? And I know there are clears made specifically for matte paint, do you think they'd be too shiny still? :thankyou:

You would be surprised at how much of a sheen a clear coat adds to a flat/satin finish. That is why most guys who go this route with their pant do not add a clear coat to their cars.
