My friend posted here trying to help me out with the massive oil leak after 9.8 miles on my new 3.0 i just finished. I had the motor down to the bare block and replaced everything. The oil leak just suddenly happened idling on the lift after putting on a hi flow ypipe. It ran down the lower rad tube hose steadily. We were stumped. It ended up being the left bank intake cam seal. It had popped out of the hole! Why i dont know. Does anyone think it could have been some residual assembly **** or oil mixed with the rtv i used on the seals? Drove it home tonight again-SHO far SHO good.

the cam seal should seal itself. i am guessing (hoping) you didn't have it installed all the way in. if you did youprobably got the wrong seal for it (they have been known to package them wrong on occasion) keep a close eye on it if you see oil leaking in that general area it migh be wise to get another seal and install it good luck

The instructions that came with the cam seals that I have installed said to use RTV on the outer diameter of the seal to secure it when installed. Here is what the front bank's cam seal looks like when fully installed. It should be flush with the surronding metal surface.
