For the last year or so I've had a slight oil leak/dribble from the rear cam seal onto my belt causing minor slippage and hence some squeal. Not always though.
Lately its gotten louder, much more metallic in sound, and always present.
The squeal is not present at idle, yet screams once the engine reaches about 2k revs if under load or not.
Fearing A/C Compressor bearing failure I investigated the entire belt system with a stetoscope. Couldn't find the source no matter how hard I tried.
My question...Is there any specific bearing that is most often associated with failure?
Or is it possible that I simply lucked out, and the oil saturated belt is simply squealing like a bad bearing?
Thanks,
