i bought an mtx sho not to long ago and i've replaced my ckps fixed the rear sub frame mounts new dis and a few other things. the car has 313,000 kms on it but in 2003 had another engine put into it. i have the reciept for the engine and it cost 2100 before labour. i've noticed you guys seem all about the maintance like the 60k and rod bearings. i dont know whats been done to the engine, i know that it runs very strong and i dont want to tear into it if i don't have too. i read something about if your oil pressure was good your rod bearings are probaly good, and the engine has zero tick so i would assume the valve clearance is good, is this a safe assumption? or do you guys do these things no matter what when you get a car?

thanks for any help

i'm thinking that starting soon i'll only be using the car in the summer (no point in power here in the cold north on ice). i just plan on having it to pull out once in a while as a sleeper to make people look stupid. i've put on a exaust takin the cats and resisnator out. and plan on a 75 dry shot to back it up. just so you know what the future holds for it.

1: dont bother working on it in the bitter cold.

2: I wouldnt worry about the rod bearings now if you say it had a new engine put in it. Jasper engine or just a junkyard engine? If it was a junkyard engine, it would be a piece of mind thing to replace them when you do your maintenance in the summer.

3: dont take the cats and resonator out...it will only depress you. Really I dont think there is a person on this 5000 member forum that likes a sho with no cats and no resonator. It sounds like azz.

4: enjoy your sho. take care of it.

Jr, where abouts in Alberta are you from?

I'm in the process of finishing off the rebuild of my engine in my '89, it should be going in, in the next couple days (since the weather has been nice the last couple days)
