Magnaflow y-pipe w/cats q's

Hey real quick I did some light searching and didn't find my answers.

Magnaflow Y-PIPE 23355

1) Is it actually a highflow y-pipe
2) Will an unmodified Magnaflow give the power increase that people say the high flow pipes give?
3) For those of you who have this y-pipe, do you like it?

I'm not really familiar with the part numbers and such, but I'll assume you're talking about a y-pipe for an MTX. If that's the case, any aftermarket y-pipe you get for it will flow better than the stock unit, because they all eliminate the 90 degree entrance to the rear converter.

Magnaflow pipes are good quality, but there have been some fitment issues that have required a little heating and tweaking to get them to fit properly. Not a big deal, but if you don't have a torch to heat it with, you'll have to have a shop install it, adding to your total cost.

If I were in the market for a new y-pipe, that's the one I'd be getting.

You have to be very specific when dealing with Shosource if you want the equal length Y-Pipe setup. It is available in catted and straight through, and it has its own listing in the online catalogue.
The magnaflow model is also sold by Shosource, but it is not the equal length thing you are thinking about.
The Shosource equal length Y-Pipe comes in a number of pieces and is put together with clamps.
The Magnaflow model is a welded assembly and comes in one piece.

2) Only partial. It still is stock pipe diameters. Does have the removed restriction.
3) I like the SHO Source one.

I ran the magnaflow for a number of years on my mtx. I liked it and at the time Shosource was not around. It has smoother mandrel bends and eliminates the 90, so it flows alot better than stock. I have since switched to a Shosource equal length. I believe (no dyno to prove it yet) that the Sho Source one flows better. I noticed that the car doesnt seem to die off as much up top....it keeps pulling. If I were in the current market for one I would say go with the Sho Source one. Fit it on the car with the clamps and then either drive the car to an exhaust shop to have it welded, or take it of the car and walk in the dor with it. I got mine welded this way and it cost me $20.
