Hi all. I recently switched over to a catless ypipe and dynomax catback. I need to replace the resonator to help with the sound some. I am debating between a magnaflo resonator or a glasspack muffler. Opinions welcome. If anyone has some sound clips that would be awsome. Thanks

yes, I am wanting sound clips so I can hear the difference. Also, didnt know if there were any difference in flow characteristics between a resornator and a straight thru glasspack (such as thrush or cherrybomb). I do know that the glasspack wont last as long, but the car isnt a DD and a thrush glasspack is less than half the price. Thanks

id ask for sound clips try and match the difference

Thanks. I was searching you tube....found alot of vids, just not what I was looking for. Does anyone have one using a glass pack as a resonator? There are ones using them as mufflers, but couldnt find any as resonators.

You tube is your friend.
This is mine. I am catless with the sho source Cat back they have a Huge magnaflow resonator welded on so it can fit. It sounds great.

You've heard Boat's recently haven't you? He got that 4" put on there.. didn't sound bad to me at all.. and he's got the thrush mufflers too.. I got 40's on mine, and wouldn't mind trying out that resonator he used myself.. maybe even two.. lol ? just to be different

I heard it before the resonator. Sounded good at idle. I am waiting to hear it before I decide what Im doing. I may try the glass pack just to try something different since they r pretty cheap. Waiting to hear his before I decide. Plus Im sure there will be some differance since Im now catless.

i would recommend a huge glass pack myself small ones tend to leave rasp the bigger the glass pack the deeper it sounds at least from all ive heard

i know they make them at least up to 31 inches

Well on a 5 speed Boat just went thru the "find the largest" ordeal. Turns out its a 4" round magnaflow...

But I thought each different size was more or less canceling out different resonant frequencies.... kind of why I wanted a nice big one like he has, then maybe a smaller one that splits into two 2.5" and then running those back to my 40's...

I'm thinking with multipule resonators these cars would sound bad ass like a Ferarri or something.. (provided your codes are 111) :) My old BMW had 3 resonators and 3 cats IIRC... sounded like crap when I took the exhaust off one day.. :)

The difference I noticed between Magnaflow mufflers and other glasspacks is the Magnaflow does not have anything sticking out from the perforations in the exhaust stream.

Boat's sounds good with the 4" Magnaflow. They make longer glasspacks, but I dont think they will fit in the space provided. If the flow is the same I may try it with the glasspack, then switch if I dont like it. You can pick up a straight through thrush for under $30 at summit.

Thanks, this was the flow info I was looking for. So the stuff sticking out would impede the exhaust flow?

it does decrease some flow but not anything more then a factory style muffler which is what the glasspack is ment to be is a replacement muffler that outflows..

the little ribs inside do create ripples in the air flow but i dont think your gonna notice the difference

We'll see how the glasspack sounds...ordered today. I got a Thrush straight thru one. It is 3.5" around but the body part of it is 2" longer than the Magna Flow. If my catback was 2.5" instead of 2.25" (its a dynomax catback) then they make a 4" around one. I'll let you know once its installed, hopefully it will **** (or atleast calm down) the angry nest of bees that have set up a homestead in my exhaust.
