lucas transmission stabilizer?

Has anyone tried this stuff in the MTX? I am refilling it with castrol synthetic ATF and I want to put a litre of this stuff in it along with 2 litres of the castrol. Any Suggestions?

If available near you,use Petro-Canada ATF Dexron. Good Quality lubricant

If you think you need a thicker ATF in there then just fill it with Redline MT-90. I have just a little bit of MT-90 in my MTX and even with a cable shifter it shifts almost like butter.

ive used it in my ATX and am very happy with it, but i would follow the other's advice and use a better fluid first.

I am also interested in that stuff. I was going to purchase some but my tranny fluid is full. Would I have to drain some of the fluid out before I put that stuff in?

I tried the Lucas Oil stabilizer and noticed that my rod bearing knock went away, and went I went back to straight Castrol it came back. Stuff for thought.... shrug

That's because the Lucas is as thick as molassas. It was filling the excessive gap between the crank journals and the rod bearings with molecules of extraordinary size compared to those in the ordinary motor oil.

personally id be wary of throwing it in my motor oil, im not much on additives. but for your tranny if youre just trying to get it to hold out until you can get a rebuild or to smooth it out a little for the time being, then its one of your best bets. my tranny ran fairly well (85%) before i used it and now it runs about 95% id say.

if youre not having troubles with your tranny though just fill it with redline and dont worry about it. its geared more for people allready having some trouble i believe.

if i recall correctly, no, just add it right on top, but ill take a look in the morning to double check.

Do temperature changes affect lucas stabilizer? I know for a fact that the mobil 1 synthetic atf in my transmission thickens up in the winter. Cold shifts are noticeably more stiff than when the car is warmed up.

ill tell you for a fact yes they do, because i added mine in march and it was very thick after sitting in my garage. when i added some again in may it was not nearly as thick.
