The Helm manual says to unbolt the steering rack from the subframe before lowering the subframe. I am only changing the subframe bushings. Do I really need to unbolt the rack from the subframe?

I would buzz it off there it will only take another few minutes. 15/16" socket IIRC.

I might be a little late with this, but also remove those 2 plastic pins that secure the heat shield that goes over the rack. Whoever dropped my subframe before me didn't and now the heat shield is all ripped up.

looen the front bolts a few turns then loosent thhe rears all the way. Put a jack under the oilpan with a block of wood, lower thhe engine and the SF down. No need to loosen the rack at all!!!

bolt the rear up tight, then loosen a few turns, then undo the fronts. Align the subframe when all done and you're good
