I feel for ya dude. I also would love to lower my SHO, but I currently can't afford it... therefore I'm not going to:thumb:

Save your money and do it right, you'll thank yourself later. If you got 20 bucks burning a hole in your pocket you're a little better than half way to a Mobil 1 full synthetic oil change.

Take care of the maintenance part of things and don't worry so much about asthetics (because lets face it you're looking to lower for looks and not performace, thats all those things do) If you take proper care of your SHO it'll take care of you, neglect it and it'll leave you high and dry.

those clamps are intended for Honduhs anyway:evilgrin:

Trying to lower it 2 inches, and in a cheap way so it will look cool makes little sense, and also means you will also have several added problems;
- alignment; negative camber will result meaning the tires will be at an angle where the outside of the tread loses contact with the road; less grip will result and tires will wear out quickly on the inside. Some of this can be corrected by drilling out the strut tower welds, but not enough to correct for it. Camber adjusting strut mounts are available but I have heard these don't hold alignment well.
- bump steer; you are changing the geometry such that the steering rack/tie rods are going to be at an angle so when you hit a bump, the steering will react; this is bad if it happens in a high speed corner. you would ave to shim the steering rack, but this will not be enough to correct it either.
- torque steer; simlarly, the driveshafts will be at an increased angle resulting in increased torque steer.

In addition, by compressing the spring 2 inches, if you fully extend your suspension, you run the risk of the spring falling out of the pearch, then you would be in a world of hurting.

And...
If you dont have the money to buy springs, and you do lower, then I'm assuming that you dont have them money to get an alignment as stated above. If you don't get an alignment then you will wear your tires faster as stated above. If you wear your tires faster, then you need to buy new tires which you dont have money for.

Look Im not trying to bash you for not having funds. I was at that point 5 years ago too. Im just saying that doing it cheaply ends up costing more money than doing it correclty. I know this from experience. If you keep an eye out, you might be able to get some used eibachs or intrax, and you WILL need some used koni's or tokicos to keep up with the increased spring rate. If you don't replace the struts, you will wear your stock struts out and have to go back and do all the labor over again to replace the struts.

Most people on the street think Tauruses are grandma cars anyway so by lowering it who are you going to impress?? Be COOL by doing it correctly and doing it tastefully, you'll get way more compliments from outsiders as well as people around here.
