Went to put my new Moogs in, and noticed on the bottom of the installation sheet: "If the steering knuckle/hub pinch arms are squeezed together more than .032", replace." Wow, mine are .060". Been like that for a long time, I reckon, anyone else check theirs? They say the pinch bolts can break under those conditions...... very scary. I really don't want to replace the hub. I wonder if thats a CYA, or if something bad can happen.

sunny San Juan Bautista,
I just put my Moogs is and I didn't check. Mine looked good to me and since I'm the only one who has every touched those pinch bolts, whether to tighten or loosen, I know they've never been tightened beyond spec torque. I know that doesn't really help. Hopefully you'll get some good comments in the morning. You can always just keep your eye out for some 96 knuckles and do a brake upgrade hehe. :D

Thanks, Rick. I only had mine apart once that I know of, and always use a torque wrench. I was hoping someone else would chime in that had measured theirs; a brake upgrade isn't in the works right now.

I would presume the .032" is the limit for how much the pinch arms move when the pinch nut is tightened. Maybe I should look this one up in the Ford manual to be sure.

Its the static measurement without pinch bolt or ball joint stud installed. In other words, did previous squeezings overdo it?
