What is the best way to reattach the lower black body molding under the doors? mine have popped loose. Think it was caused by the car lift at repair shop. Sorry for all the new threads but I'm a new SHO owner and full of questios.

Ford will tell you those mouldings have clips that are considered "one time use". Essentially they are, for the most part.

There's simply not enough "material" there, that fastens them onto the car itself. Once they're broke, pretty much s.o.l.

I suppose one could try to re-glue them, or even attempt to use that formable steel putty stuff found at most popular auto parts stores. But long term, I wouldn't trust it.

Since I had mine custom painted, the body shop allowed me to watch as they very gingerly had a special tool for removing them from the car. But there were plenty of colorful swear words and other verbiage being shouted out during the process. LOL.

Here's a couple of pics of mine, off the car, and what the car looks like, with them off. I wish now I would've captured shots of the backsides. Ggrrrr.

Cool.

The clips are light gray in color, and are semi rectangular in design.

Hope it all turns out well! Keep us posted.

Oh yea, and try to capture some pics of them if you could. Surely there will be others desiring the same info down the road at some point.

TIA

This isn't SHO specific or quantity specific but you should be able to order most molding retainers by the bag from the dealer if you identify what part they're needed for. Sometimes the same part, say rocker molding, uses one to three different style retainers at different locations along the part. Talk with the parts counter, bet they can hook you up if any of you ever need them.
