I noticed there is hardly any flow coming from my right side muffler compared to the left side. The system is original stock from the cat back, and it has a Magnaflow Y-pipe. I assume the right side muffler has become plugged. So, which fix makes more sense?

Replace both mufflers - This is economical for parts, but I intend to do it right and have them welded in to use the stock hangars and have turn-down outlets welded on. So there is labor and some fabrication costs, and I retain the old resonator which is in unknown condition internally.

Replace the whole thing with a cat back - Parts cost is more, but everything will be new. I'll have it welded in, and I know the shop may have to do some heating and bending to get both sides equal height. I want turn down outlets welded on, and I'd prefer that it use stock type hangars. The extra money is not an issue if the system fits well, and most importantly does not produce any annoying resonance or buzzing audible inside the car. I like the sound of the stock system, and think its noise level is good for a daily driver.

What do you recommend?

You do relize that exhaust(aka air) is going to find the easiest way out.... passenger side muffler is a bit farther downstream then the driver side. OTOH, I have seen a couple stock mufflers break the baffles out, but you could hear them rattling around inside. That would cause a flow issue as well, obviously.

If you can deal without the fake-dual exhaust setup, go to a single muffler that flows better than a dynomax. You'll drop some weight and possibly pick up a couple ponies up top.

If you want something quiet that will flow very well, I would suggest going with a magnaflow muffler and the biggest resonator you can find. Should sound deeper than stock, and have a great tone that is not obnoxious in any way.
