After taking a **** ride down the highway my low coolant light decided to show itself.
I pulled over and checked it out.
Plenty of good coolant.
Im thinking the sensor in the tank just went bad.
On top of that my temp gauage has never worked.
Any ideas?
Could my coolant have gotten so hot it wrecked the sensor and i never knew it was hot because of the non working gauge.
I wasnt about to open the cap with it that hot and the hose was stiff as ****.
I was going about 125 with it redlined for about 5 seconds.
Bad shift solenoid causes my od off light to flash so i drive with it off.
Which is why i was at redline only going 125.

Probably just a bad sensor. The sensor is in the bottom of the overflow bottle (which Ford calls a degasser).

The good news is that a new bottle with a new sensor can be had for about $35 on e-bay. The Duratec (DOHC) Taurus has the same bottle.

The stock tanks are known to develop cracks along the bottom. For the 35 bucks, shipped, you are better off replacing it. It is a super easy job and it is nice to have a tank you can see the fluid level without having x-ray vision.

Ok thanks guys
Just as i thought
My tank is very visible for 112000 miles so there is no need to replace it and i check my fluids often so i feel there is no need for that sensor.
But what i feel i really need to look into is that shift solenoid.
I was told that in most cases its an easy fix including a thorough tranny flush.
Ontop of my tranny fluid being burnt i also need a drivers side ball joint and tierod end.
I can tell a very long story about everything my car needs, its history since i bought it, and the stupid things ive done with it since i bought it.
Good laughs to be had.
Which is a better for tomorrow if anyone plans to stick with this thread
