Loud Rattle From Left Side

I picked up my car from the tranny shop and I heard a loud rattle from under the hood. It only makes the noise at around 1.5rpms. A shop told me that the sound is coming from inside the timing belt cover. Any ideas as to what it could be?


could it be the water pump.

Please help ASAP!!!!

On the 'left' as in drivers side??? or Left as in Passenger side?

If drivers, that can't be timing cover.... That would be the transmission or cam tensioner side that rattles like that.
?? Need more info.

Well, that is the side everything is on.. Can you tell if it is high or low on the engine? If low, could be the water pump, but all the ones I have seen have leaked not rattled... The tensioner pulleys might rattle, so can the AC pressure plate, so can a bunch of things on that side.... need more info to help.. sorry

My heat shield over the Cat is loose and rattles quite loudly right now... just a thought
