From the day I got the car the fuel pump has been really really loud. So loud I listen to the radio at full blast to drown it out

. I was reading posts and some mentioned this was the sign of one going bad. I've owned the car for 3yrs now and drive it daily (I personally like the sound) but noticed it does feel as though it weren't getting enough fuel when you really beat on it (hi rpm). Symptom could be a plethora of other sensor issues

. Never ever have I had the CE light come on (knock on wood). Anyone else have a loud fuel pump?

Mine is pretty loud too. I had figured on replacing it now, while the carpet and deadener stuff is out but have kinda lost motivation.

And now that one of the rear brake calipers isn't releasing I've resigned myself to just sitting on the front porch like an old dog with no motivation whatsoever. zzzzz :help: zzzzz  :)

If you decide to do yous soon, LMK. Maybe we could knock them both out at the same time. I'll check around for a nibbler.

wants to replace my tank & everything cause it has a big dent in it. He's mentioned it quite a bit lately. Are you gonna try the cut a hole trick?

(I think ur car is 2 nice for that)

locked Caliper is an easy fix, bad brake line. I have to check to see when we have time, just bring it down & we'll throw it up on the lift, no biggie. 16.99 for the break line?
Hope everythings OK w/the foot. You should be taking it easy anyways.

(It's gonna be a boring ride up to the meet without you & ur lead cane)

Isn't the fuel pump an all or nothing replacement; meaning it either works or it does. I dunno. Mine makes whinning noises at times, but it's been that way for a few years now, so I ain't gone worry about it too much for now. I wish I knew if a poorly functioning fuel pump causes bad gas mileage though.

And you prolly like the noise because it sounds like a supercharger, right! or maybe not.

No it's not an all or nothing. The whining noise is an initial indication of impending failure. Next it will begin to stall during higher road/outside temps followed by complete failure. This process can take years or may happen in several months. The worst part is it will leave stranded in the worst place at the worst time.

pump... or is that ****??

When I bought my 95 atx last january, the pump was noisey as heck too, but it worked fine. I had it replaced thinking it was why my SHO wouldn't restart easy, but that wasn't the prob.

Which one of your SHOs are you refering to? If you ever want to sell the red one let me know.

Good luck,
Jim

Don't aftermarket fuel pumps make alot of noise?? My friend has a civic that has a aftermarket fuel pump in his car and it is loud! I seriosly think I have one in my SHO that i don't know about. Because my friend noticed the other day when i started it up and he was outside of the car it was really loud. Alot louder then my old stock SHO. You never know. The guy I bought it from didn't even know it had KYB shocks on it!! So I am learning new things about my car every day.

Do yourselves a favor and change your fuel filter if you haven't. This will quiet a noisy pump if it's creating a large restriction (my ATX's pump quieted down a bunch after filter replacement.)

Ford pumps don't seem to last much past 130k miles though.

Sorry I'll be dead & burried in that car :thumb: (i'm not kidding)
The white car is/was loud. I haven't noticed the noise lately now that I posted. I am however thinking that the fuel filter may need a replacement, since I've never replaced it and I'm sure its the original factory never been changed filter :oogle:
