I like the two tone on the lower half (that is two tone right?). Not really diggin the Gen III hubcaps, some nice cleaned up slicers would look really nice, IMHO. Besides the hanging front valance and saggy springs doesn't look that bad. Like I said previously...lots of potential..nice straight body with looks like no rust...good luck.. :burn_out:

Yep, two tone. I kinda like the hub caps though. Yea, I need to tighten up the bumper. And no, not sagging springs, but lowered coils. The body is fairly straight, I didnt spend alot of time with it. It did have some hail damage I worked out though. As far as the paint, I left a run on the drivers side, but once I rubbed it out, you cant even tell it was once there.

Overall, its a very nice first vehicle for my 16 year old son. Now if he would just learn how to operate the mtx...

Ah, the joys of learning how to drive a stick... I have taught a couple people how to do that, but I have used an 80's Corolla which was a little more friendly to fresh drivers.

Man, I wish I had been given a 5sp SHO when I was 16..... :burn_out: ...well I probably wouldn't be driving now if I had been given one...

On a side note, you might want to look into a rod bearing replacement, especially with that high of mileage. The parts are around $100 and can be done in an afternoon....something to think about...good insurance for a car that might be driven hard in the future-ie. -teenage driver.... :burn_out:

I just did the valve covers and plug well seals yesterday. It is a real ***** to get them off, a real ***** to get them back on. But while in there I found about a quart of oil in the plug wells. If you have any doubt whether or not you could drain that oil into the cylinders, just take a look at a capfull of new oil, and then look at the stuff in your wells. That should be enough to convince you.

Not to mention the mere thought of hydrostatic lock!!

Anyway, it was my first time taking off the manifold and I did the whole job in about 12 hours ( I also changed the radiator, oil, repaired the starter connections, painted the valve covers, and cleaned the manifold ). My advice is to take your time and invest in a long 12mm box end wrench. You'll know why when you get there.
