Loss of spark (I think).

:D *story*
:D We had a large storm roll through my neck of the woods the other day. I had to go through a rather large puddle to get into my parking lot. I went VERY slow and made it through without any problems. I parked and shut her down, but less than an hour later I had to flea my building cause a tornado was heading towards me and was less than a mile away.

I have felt like I was flying before in the SHO but that was at around 150 mph going through a stop sign. I really didnt want her fly without me (Wizard of OZ type stuff was going through my head).

So anyway as I started it up it backfired once (never had before), then was fine.

This happened 2 days ago and now periodically when I give it a goose it stutters as I gain speed. The CE light doesn't come on, I know one of my spark plug seals is leaking a bit (replacing this weekend with 60k) and maybe some water got in the well and is acting up. or maybe its just a coincidence and a wire has just gone bad. shrug

This is my guess, any experts or experianced guys out there have any Ideas? I'm going to check the well tomorrow just to see.

Thanks!

The car backfiring sounds like a bad plug/wire to me. Check for water when doing your 60k. Hopefully there isn't any. Glad to hear you got away from the tornado oh_my . You might not have been as lucky if you didn't have a SHO :D

A bad plug won't cause a backfire. That requires a mistimed current to the incorrect cylinder. That can only be accomplished by a spark leak across wires or the DIS module. Water didn't cause the plug wires to fail, but it could let the leaking wires show themselves while it is still around.

Yup, glad I got away when I did! When I got back I wadded through the water and it capped at knee level (about 2 FT).

Drove for about 10 miles today and no reoccurance so far. I'll be driving 240 Miles later on so I'm crossing my fingers.

If water is causing it in the coil pack, will it return to normal as they dry?

thanks for the thoughts!
