I need help! I was on my way to check on my grandparents and my SHO just lost power with 1/4 tank left. I was going about 90 averaging 24 mpg. Had traveled about 140 miles when the engine just shut off. No shudder or CEL. Auxiliary power stayed on. No signs just stopped being a left lane beast. It’s under CPO warranty so I had AAA tow it to the closest Ford dealership to my grandparents house. I had to leave town to go back to work but wondering if there are some things my grandfather can try while it’s another 5 days before the dealership can take a look. He used to race Baja 500 on dirt bikes and built planes in his garage so I know he could handle himself in a dealer lot. I tried everything and looked for anything not normal. All the plugs were tight and there were no fluids. Engine bay still looks new after a couple of weeks. Any clues or directions? Every time I drive this loaner Explorer I feel a small part of my soul dying. Why can’t a car either be made for miles per gallon or smiles per gallon. Both done poorly is just depressing.

I would take a gander that either the HPFP or the LPFP (in tank) decided it was time to quit.

OP didn't mention what year, but there was safety recall on the fuel pump control module (behind the back seat.) If the recall was not done, or even IF done, it could have died.

Been crazy at work lately. Has been for months. So bad at updating posts. 2018 SHO PP under warranty. P00C6 and P0627. Dealership replaced both fuel pump module and fuel pump as both were shorted. I have a spare module in the glovebox now.

Nice pretty easy fix.
