Good morning,
Over the past couple of weeks, my car has been feeling more like a 4 cyl Camry than a twin turbo v6. I actually got overtaken by an accord while my foot was to the floor yesterday :(

So today I decided to check out the issue, I’ve inspected all the piping and don’t see any cracks, I cleaned both map sensors, and even swapped out the 3 bar back to the 2 bar and loaded the stock tune. I just went for a drive and saw boost pressures max out at 3psi!!!

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Please tell me my turbos aren’t bad! :(

No smoke or anything like that from the exhaust? Could be the turbos could be the waste gates

Yeah, all the piping looks good all the way to the turbos (as much as I can see). No smoke

Edit: After reading about similar issues on another forum, I read that in the other guys case, one of the BOV's was causing the issue, I will probably look into this in the morning.
Is it possible it could be a bad MAP sensor?

P0299 is bank A (1) underboost. I recall there being a kind of common issue with a seal or diaphragm in the turbo bypass valve. Also possibly something with the waste gate/linkage? Quick and dirty without all the pin point tests.

P0299 - Turbocharger/Supercharger A Underboost Condition

Description: This DTC sets when the actual TCBP value is less than the desired TCBP value by 27.6 kPa (4 psi) or more for 5 seconds, indicating an under boost condition.
Possible Causes:
  • Damaged turbocharger (TC) wastegate regulating valve solenoid
  • TC wastegate regulating solenoid valve stuck
  • Wastegate stuck open
  • Wastegate control hose open or plugged
  • Air leak between turbocharger and throttle

What/where is the turbo bypass valve? Is this something I could fix myself? Thanks for all your info!

could easily be the unsecured hoses on top of the manifold, loose or even come off completely.

But yes, it is likely that the orange seal has popped on one or both of the BOV valves.

Blown diaphragm seal on BOV

You need to wax that squeak, Marius :D Haven't been detailing your SHO lately I take it?

Haha, I actually did wash and wax her last weekend

Wanted to take off the BOV’s today, but of course I can’t find my socket set :(
But once I do, I will check that out, I did take another look at all the vacuum hoses, and they’re all good.

Edit: found some cracks in a hose, but I’m not sure what that hose goes to?

That's your problem. That's an intercooler hose. You are losing boost right there.

Seems to be getting worse, hope it holds up until my new hose arrives :frown:
Maybe I could use some duct tape in the meantime

Also seems like the radiator hose will be in the way of me rescuing the hose clamp on the bottom part of the hose, I’m guessing I shouldn’t remove that radiator hose?

I would try to get it removed and replaced without losing your coolant. FWIW, since the hose coming off is junk, you could just cut it off to make getting to the clamp easier.

Po299 I got one don’t feel any loss in power no black smoke no nothing. If I have a loss in turbo power what the **** have I been feeling so far. Put a tune on Saturday friend and I he put the tunes on so I don’t know if he cleared codes first and the installed the tune. Ran good like the tune and all. Just decided to put the better tune on yesterday. So the code came up I look at it cleared thinking because we had a few things unhooked it was reading that , loaded the new tune went for a ride to learn the tune and shifting. Car ran great. Check this morning and the code is still there po299 loss of turbo power waste gate stuck. Idk I wanna no if this was a issue when I bought the car. It feels fine if I’ve been missing some boost wow what is this car really like. What to do ?

It’s just what I dreaded if this was happening before the tune and now I go to the dealer and they see the car was flashed can’t even fight it I guess they are gonna say the tune caused the issue. I’m gonna return it to stock I guess I’m gonna test my dealer been going along time there. Is it safe to drive this like this ?
