Hey guys,
just bought a 90 SHO, wasn't running when I bought it. The guys said it was the cps, so I did complete 60K, lots of oil in the plug wells etc. I just finished it up tonight and when I plugged the battery up I had power, lights came on strong etc. When I turned the key to acc (first position), everything seemed fine. When I turned the key to the start position, everything turned off and I had no power whatsoever. I unplugged the battery and hooked it back up, and it was just like before, power, lights, etc, then nothing when I hit the ignition. I haven't done any diagnosis yet, I'm gonna hit that tomorrow. Any ideas on what it might be? Thanks!

:) I hope you're right. I guess I've just never had a battery that would power all the lights, radio, and door chimes but go completely dead on startup...

Either the battery is bad or one of the cables (or their connections) is bad.

Get your voltmeter out and look for the voltage drop across the battery or the cables when someone hits the starter.

The negative battery cable has a nasty habit of corroding inside the insulation down near the starter. If the insulation is bubbled, the cable is definitely bad.

Could be as simple as you forgot to tighten a battery clamp.

Okay I feel like an idiot, it was the battery. Put a new one in today and it started up. I was afraid it was gonna be a cable or something but we're all good. Thanks.
