I replaced the front main seal about 700 miles ago. There is some kind of fluid leaking from the engine but i can't tell what it is. It doesn't have any smell and the color doesn't really look like power steering fluid or oil. Yet i check my oil and it's on add a quart. So i am basically losing a quart every thousand miles. I went under the car with my brother and we both couldn't find where it was coming from. The "oil" or whatever fluid it is seems to be coming from the passenger side but higher up on the engine. It's not the valve covers because we just replaced the seals and it's been doing it since i got the car. What else is on that side of the engine that would be leaking oil. I hope i'm not burning the oil in the engine. But seeing this substance and being low on oil makes me believe that oil is still leaking. please help me out. thanks.

Nope, it's not the cam seals. It's coming from the back of the motor around the power steering pump. We cleaned everything up and sprayed it down with cleaner before we put it all back together. I found that one of the power steering pump lines was loose. I tightened up the clamp thinking that was the problem, but we still have something leaking. It's all on the side of the suspension and the axle. It doesn't look to be the oil pan, and I hope it's not the front main seal. I just replaced it, and although there is a drop of oil on the botton of the front cover, it doesn't appear to be coming from there. It would be on the pan like it was before at that point. Not to mention, if it was leaking from the front main seal, it would smoke from dripping onto the catalytic converter, also which happened before. I am stumped and can't figure out this damn leak.

That is were I am telling you to check. Check by the steering fluid resivour where the camshaft sensor is. It is common for that area to leak, well not common, but one of the more common spots.

Well I dont know if this will help. It sounds like a leak that I had but Im not sure if its from the same area. You might want to check the oil sender. Its a little ways up from the oil pan on the back side. Mine was leaking and then Ford replaced it, only to have it leak again! Stupid Ford  . Anyways it didnt leak that bad but might want to check.

i don't think it's the oil sender because it seems to be coming from even above that......a lot higher up. i'm stumped. i mean, i don't mind filling it up a quart every 1000 miles but still. i'd rather find it and fix it.
