When in Park with engine off I am able to move my steering wheel about 3-4 inches both left and right easily as if it's loose... I tightened all the pinch bolts on the steering column already. If I pull the center steering wheel part off that I use for the horn, will that set off the airbag? I am wondering if there's another bolt under there that could be causing this?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I read on here that messing with that air bag crap can be deadly, if you don't know what your doing. Just thought I'd tell you before you go mess with it.

"Thanks for the warning" ;)

A guy at my work assured me I can pop the center cap off without disrupting my air bag, and there's a bolt right there that I am able to tighten that will finally fix this.

I will try this tomorrow morning, and see if it finally solves this darn steering looseness!! :thumb:

I don't know...that center thing he's talking about is holding your air bag!!! From what I remember seeing, as my airbag was removed, it's like a nut holding down the steering wheel. I can't think of how that would cause your problem. Maybe your rack or something is the cause?

Know what? I don't know either...LOL!! I have a bad feeling about this. I think I'm going to play a "safe" here, and have someone that knows what they are doing examine my steering :D

I Don't really feel like blowing my head off today :nono:

I don't quite understand if you are suggesting free rotational play or movement of the whole column. Its easy to break the tilt pivot cogs in the column assembly if you use the wheel to hold yourself in the seat. This is a no no. Further damage can be done to the collapsable section of the column causing the wheel to turn with a wobble. This is more likly to occur if the car hit something head on.
