Hi Guys,

I have a 95 SHO ATX that my daughter has been driving, well it started to loose power, it was a progresive thing that started over a couple of days. It sounded to me like a fuel problem, I just checked the fuel rail pressure and found almost 40psi there. If you go to WOT it acts like is trying to start, but never does. I had her crank the engine while I gave it a shot of starting fluid, it picked up and ran for a few second then quit.
Any ideas on what could be going on? I'm going to pull the codes on it tomorrow to see if there is anything.
Thanks for any help..

I pulled the codes, of which there were none, it sure sounds like an issue with the timing belt. When it warms up in Michigan I'll pull the top cover and have a look at the pulleys and belt.

verify that your getting spark.. could be the CPS.

As for the power problems.
I'd clean the MAF (with electrical cleaner)
change the plugs.
change the fuel filter.
and possibly change the o2's if you can throw it. That is, if they havent been replaced.

Thanks,
I do need to verify that the spark is good, at WOT it acts like it wants to start, but just stumbles a little. That's why I thought the spark was OK, it has a new fuel pump and filter, new plugs and wires also the O2 sensors are fairly new. I'm sure the MassAir could use cleaning, Thanks, I'll give that a try.

mass air won't cause a no start condition.
have you checked for spark yet?
if you have fuel and spark, then id bet its a timing issue aswell.

If it runs at all stumbling or not, it has spark. If there where a fault with the CKP there would be a PIP failure code. Sounds like timing to me.

maybe a better description of the problem would be in order....

Im taking it that the car runs. But at WOT it stumbles, and that this stumble has gotten worse over time.
And as far as the hard starting/adding starting fluid part, this could be the CPS or CID, but not limited to those two.
