ok i had to pull the alt. last night and to day went to put the new alt and it bolted up fine i went to put the belt on and now it looks like i have tighten the belt half a inch. But i didnt have to loosen it when i took the belt off. maybe diffent size pullys, or the belt is stretched. or is there something im missing. this is a 91 mtx with a 95 3.2

I'm not sure im just getting into the sho game. the alt was ordered for the 3.0. The 3.2 alt harness was differn't. There just seems like to much slack. I have followed the model on the ford sticker. I just don't get it how it sould be so much slack. Also could i use the small allen screw in the tensioner to pick up the slack.

Like you im also new to the SHO's but i'll try. First i'd compare the size of the pulley on the new alt. to the old one. Next, i'd check the routing of the belt and be sure i was routing it for the engine and accessories that are in the car now, not the stock motor(was the label on the body for a different motor?). Last, id check the tensioner to be sure it is operating correctly.Hope this helps!!

The 5mm allen head IS the tensioner. Clockwise lowers the pully and add tension to the belt.

Crank that 5mm tensioner bolt to tighten the belt.
