I use car gurus to find deals. If you are patient and wait long enough you can find the perfect one for you. I like the site because it tells you how long the dealer has had the car and how much they have lowered the price since they first got it. That gives you an idea of how low you might be able to offer them and still get the car.

Not sure if the link will work, but I did a search of all SHO's within 100 miles of zip code 55401. Good luck!

I've been using that site, and actually all of them that have a price already have a 'viewed' tag next to it :)
You gave me the idea to write down the number of days on the site next to each car in my list though. Thanks again.

Just an update: made the trip and drove two the first day. The first one was a nice blue '14 without the 401a but with the PP. It was great, but had been taken home overnight by someone, and they were back to sign papers by the time I got done with the test drive. That's ok, I wanted the 401a anyways.

Went to the next dealer, my #1 pick, and took it for a drive. Black, 401a, PP. Everything was great, very clean, but they wouldn't let me take it overnight. Went back when they opened the next day and signed it out for the day. Drove to see my #2 pick, just to compare at this point. It was a '13 and CPO, but the car was trash. Cracks in the front bumper, the bumper didn't line up with the hood, it was dirty inside and out, the seats were quite worn, crumbs on the center console, there was an umbrella in the back seat... I started it up and it didn't sound good at all. Took it on a drive anyways, and it was still rough. The engine didn't sound good and there was a 1-2 second lag between shifts. Took it back to the dealer and tried not to laugh when he asked if I fell in love with it. Took the #1 pick car back to the dealer and signed papers. Drove it home for 8 hours yesterday and loved every second.

A different salesman came to talk to me as I was leaving and said that the guy that traded it in was an older guy that needed to haul stuff, so he traded it in on a new pickup. Pretty much best case scenario. It's interesting to note that the first and second cars I drove were very clean, great shape, and both at Chevy dealerships. The third car was a CPO at a Ford dealership. I've definitely lost any faith in CPO vehicles - if it were my dealership I wouldn't even have had that on the lot in that condition.

Thanks for the help, everyone!

The dealership is a bigger problem than the CPO. That just tells me the dealership would have been no good to deal with after the sale anyway. Congrats on the new ride, and looking forward to pics!
