I've read quite a few threads re the correct fuel pump and it appears that most recommend the 115 lpm pump. However, as time go by products and recommendation may become dated.

However, several topics have been beat around and raise the following questions (for a stock 93 3.2l atx with no performance mods):

1. A different pressure regulator is recommended for 150 lpm and larger pumps. What happens if you don't change the regulator?

2. Since the 115 lpm is higher capacity than stock, is a different pressure regulator recommended? If not, does the larger pump shorten the regulator life or realiability?

3. What is the advantage of a 115 lpm vs a standard (85 lpm IIRC) pump used in a stock application?

4. Any other advantages or disadvantages of using the 115 lpm pump?

Thanks

Actually it's required for the 190lph+ pumps.

What happens if you don't change the regulator?
Excess fuel flows past the regulator resulting in hard starts, rich idle, and the PCM compensating for excess fuel throughout the whole fuel table when it is only getting excess fuel at idle/ low RPMs.

2. Since the 115 lpm is higher capacity than stock, is a different pressure regulator recommended? If not, does the larger pump shorten the regulator life or realiability?
The 155lph is generally the most widely used now. It will not shorten regulator life.

3. What is the advantage of a 115 lpm vs a standard (85 lpm IIRC) pump used in a stock application?
Essentially nothing assuming you're not experiencing fuel issues with the stock pump.

4. Any other advantages or disadvantages of using the 115 lpm pump?
Yes. You're using the wrong pump. Get the 155. :)

Sonova... :banghd:

Mikey, you just cleared up like 4 problems I've been having with my SHO with that answer.

So, where to I find the correct regulator(s)?

And to answer the obvious...

It's not an escape hatch. :)

If N/A it's cheaper and easier to tune by just dropping to the 155lph pump. Adding an aftermarket regulator that you don't need to compensate for a pump that you don't need is a little overkill. :)

Which begs the question....

Go with a new pump (with an old one up for sale) or get the cool looking FPR, which costs 2x the new pump?

Decisions...
