Looking at a Gen 3 that has an issue

Found a 97 local to me that is very clean mainly want it for an extra car and for winter. He said it had a miss which was a coil and now it wont run without giving it gas. Havnt had a chance to take a look at the car in person yet but what would likely be the issue? He said it turns over smooth no weird noises just have to stand on the gas to get it to start.

Mine had 2 bad coils when I bought it. It started and ran fine other than the miss.

That sounds like more than a coil to me, and you probably know what that means.

Maybe it is just coils, but better to assume the worst.

Looks like he dropped the price $1100 in 2 weeks. Hmmm...?

yeah I am going to look at it and see, pics I have of the car make it look very clean and worth the time to mess with unless its the cams lol. Taking my scanner with me to check for codes when I look at it. He said he is tired of messing with it and if it doesnt sell it will go to the junk yard,also said it turns over smooth and runs fine but you have to give it gas to keep running.

It could be a combination of multiple coils and a bad Idle Air Control Valve or even the fuel pump.

Thanks for the replays guys car sold before I could even look at it. Hopefully he didnt take it to the scrap yard like he was talking about cause it was a clean car. Oh well will keep my eyes open for another
