Not understanding why they couldn't dyno tune you car.
I had Livernois install the alky controls and dyno tune my 2015 sho in the summer of 2016, not even 2 year after I drove it off the showroom. Other than their catted DP and MAP, the car has stock intake, stock exhaust, mufflers, etc. and no other mods. It has been DD flawless since and accumulated 50k miles and no changes. Obviously canned tunes and dyno tunes are 2 different animals. Not everyone hates Livernois.

You are right, I don't hate LMS. I used to praise their name.

I'm new to the platform as well but I'm definitely going with Gearhead from the research I have done. Also Matt at Gearhead has been one of the best diesel tuners around always providing a clean and reliable tune.

I have a 2010. Livernois 93-100 race tune. I have meth tune as well. I love the race tune. I've had it for years. It's been revised a few times for modifications to the vehicle and preference adjustments for shifting. I have their alky methanol system, downpipes, tuner and several tune revisions. I've had good experiences with them. I recommend them if youre not trying to make max power. Great power and reliability is what I know them for. Customer service isn't as good as it once was.

The 2013+ seems to have issues with the old v11 tune holding fuel pressure at high rpms in certain temps causing the pcm to freak out and hit the rev limiter as of it's gone into neutral on occasion. They've revised the tune since, albeit with a bit less power than before.

The bad is that their customer service is hit or miss.

They seem to have a very---- political method for handling things sometimes.

My main issue is that a lead calibrator told me they could not dyno tune my standard meth system (their brand, purchased through them 2weeks earlier) and that I would need to upgrade to their direct port meth system that they recently released that is only installed by them! (Hmmmm).

There are quite a few LMS shos and flexs Dyno tuned with the standard spray meth system.

I still recommend LMS. But only for individuals who dont have a history mod or power addiction. If you're planning on mods past cold air intake, Downpipes etc, such as upgraded turbos; my opinion is that they have limited growth potential, while being quite expensive.

I've since upgraded turbos and Intercooler, and I'm going to be past the power levels of what LMS will dyno tune me for.

I took SBS advice a year ago and purchased a SCT tuner and GearHead tune. Im finally gonna start logging this week. GH has given the platform new life with their Intercooler, turbos and tuning ability.

Alot of the other more popular and recent platforms (f150, mustang, focus st/RS) customers have been pretty happy with LMS. I think the sho just isn't worth their time any more.

GH, BrewcityBoost, Unleashed, and AjpTurbo all use the SCT tuning platform. So you can be a bit of a tuning whore to find the right one, if you like. (*Cough* SBS )

LMS has their own proprietary tuning platform/device.

In my opinion, the question is how far do you want to go?

I agree. However, over the years you have shared a vast amount of info. Between you, Manu, and both Mikes.....there is a lot of knowledge and good personal experiences floating around.

I went with gearhead after reading on here and couldn't be happier. Awesome power and improved fuel economy. Daily drive feels smoother, until you stomp the loud pedal. Datalogging is great and Matt is extremely knowledgeable and quick to respond. Revisions are fast, and he'll answer any questions you have. My car took only one revision after the initial tune. I'll most definitely be using him for more revisions once I start adding more parts.

How the mighty have fallen. I still think Dan Millen is one of the smartest tuners in the country. I don't know exactly what went wrong with the V11 tune. As others have said, their tunes for the 2010-2012 models were among the best. Livernois seems to be a dirty word in the Mustang 5.0 community, too...although I am pleased with my tune and with their service. They seem to do well with ecoboost Mustangs. I recently recommended them to a Lincoln Continental owner and he is extremely happy.

Not sure what, if anything, it will take to regain their status with the SHO community. As the platform slowly fades away, maybe they are just focusing on other makes and models.

i have noticed in my friends 13+ v11 tuned car the last revision of the v11 tune was faster , i noticed 3rd gear pulled harder , then he asked livernois if they had an updated v11 and they did , the car just doesn't have the pull in 3rd gear that it used to but he hasn't had any issues with the newest v11 tune either besides the mpgs not being as good as previous tunes.

They can dyno the car they just can’t be bothered. Between the way they chose to handle the V11 issues and this type of nonsense with them it’s easy to see why the hate has been growing. I don’t hate them but will never spend another dollar with them, will not run their tune on any car I own, and would not recommend them to anyone.

You are right, I don't hate LMS. I used to praise their name.

Sooooooooooo much this.

I was a very loyal and supportive customer to LMS since tuning my 11' SHO and strapping it with all their goodies. Then started with my 16' to follow suit and was again happy, to a point.

Dealt with shifting issues over and over...had the "tune update" twice, spent time on the phone over and over and nothing was resolved. So with that, I took the "hot tune" out and used one of their "colder" tunes for xx amount of time (probably a year plus), because it didn't have ANY shifting issues and I don't track my car every weekend. So, no big loss to me.

Then...THENNNNNN, I got ahold of Matt over at Gearhead and switched a few months ago. Result: Couldn't be happier. Snagged his GH Intercooler upgrade and the tune for it and again, couldn't be happier.

I'm not here to bash LMS, their customer service is pretty spot on and they are quick to respond. However, the response is rarely a cure to the issue at hand and they try to sell you other parts.

Perhaps I should of spent my mods money on a seperate tuner and not downpipes. Hmm.

I would... you can pick up a used unlocked SCT device for $200 if you keep an eye out. $100-$150 for a tune...

Wow this is getting scary now ! Went to the dealer last week for some oil changes. And I took the tune off and it hasn’t been back on, pretty sure it ain’t going on again now. Will the plugs and 160 Tstat I have in hurt the stock tune ? Wow don’t even know if it is really a stock tune now ???? Should I put the oem tstat back in ??

Tstat won’t hurt nothing... it’s more about setting the fans to coincide with the Tstat.... if they are off it won’t hurt.

Plugs are fine as well. Nothing to worry about with the stock tune.
