if nothing else, LMS is represented right here on SHOForum, whereas I have yet to see a single person from hennessey pop in to ask the Gen IV crowd what they're looking for in performance

Actually, Hennessey was on the forum, screen name "Hennessey". They did make a few posts a while back, but they have since deleted all of them. I think that says something about Livernois vs. Hennessey...

Happy Livernois client here. Rick pm'ed many times on SVTP while I was on the fence. Always helpful, and never pushy. Sent me tunes ASAP. Couldn't be happier.

I'd say spend the $200 for his tunes. Log the 4+ into the tuner and go to the track. Make a pass with HP, then swap to Livernois. Then you'll know which is the better tune.

Perhaps Hennessey is fudging numbers, perhaps not. They do post the dyno charts, sure they could even fudge those too, but I find it hard to believe a company like Hennessey, who is actually registered with NADA, would false advertise, especially if it were to get out, it would ruin them. I'm not trying to argue in HPs favor, but it seems most of the posts here in favor of Livernois are made by those who have dealt with them, installed their tunes, and have experience with them...yet, those speaking against HP have no experience dealing with the package for the SHO.. I am open to opinions, sure, but I am one who needs to see things for myself. I will gladly be the sacrificial lamb who spent double the money I could have to see how HP really performs. Not to take anything away from Livernois, they seem like a solid company and certainly have the respect and praises of everyone here.. I am going to go ahead and install the HP intake, and take it to a local Dyno here in Buffalo, I will post the results. I mean, what the ****, the money is already spent, right?

You're not the sacrificial lamb..I have the Hennesey CAI. First mod I had on the car, at the time there wasn't another intake. Do I think it's overpriced...yes..but it's a nice piece. Don't expect it to bolt up like it's made for the car....it takes a little finessing thats for sure!! I would think the fit would be better for the price. In addition, one of the brackets broke (I believe from the movement of the engine) I called them and they sent me out a new one that was on my doorstep the next morning, so personally their customer service was great. Well enough rambling...the piece is nice but I've witnessed first hand it doesnt make anymore power than the AirRaid for triple the cost, at least at these power levels..I have to believe though that straightening out the tubing will have an impact at some point.

Steve, I just can't believe that one bend and reduction in tubing size is worth over a $1000.00 dollars more....sorry, but no way is that a good use of money. Besides, as LMS Rick states, in the real world there is no difference in dyno numbers (I completely believe that to be true) soooo if you want to waste a grand that's fine with me, but that could go a long way towards other things that really would improve performance.
I never said I wanted to buy the Hennessey CAI. I was just saying that the difference between them and Airaid is that they eliminated the 180 degrees (I think)... I wanted to have one custom made from a local tuner... he would have charged me 500$ and kept the 180 but use an oval tubing... As Darreli says, at our power, it doesn't make a difference, the engine receives enough air even with the restrictions, but at one point (if bigger turbos or ?), then the Hennessey should work a bit better.
But I won't buy it for sure and if ever I reach a point where the car needs more air, I would go with a custom made.
Cheers!
Steve
