I replaced my plugs recently and now I'm starting to get a surge sometimes at takeoff and also at light throttle/low rpms (like rounding a corner in 3rd gear/1500 rpms and hitting the gas). The plugs are the newer Motorcraft fine wires and not the 32pp's so does anyone think that they could be the cause? Also of note is this past Thursday I experienced a terrible mis-fire after the car had been sitting for about an hour after a 60 mile drive. The engine sounded like one or two cylinders were out but it's not done it since. I pulled the codes and the only one I got was 25, the knock sensor one on KOER. Obviously the two symptoms are related but I'm a little stumped. Any ideas?

Yes, they are. I've been experiencing this for about a month now, ever since I changesd the plugs. The mis-fire happened on Thursday.

I had a similar problem. Try disconnecting the negative battery terminal and let the car sit and "reset" the computer overnight. After about 15 minutes of driving, the car should be fine. That's my only suggestion...

Do you have any oil in the plug wells? You should double check the firing order. Also, how old are the plug wires? If they are old and you moved them, they could have cracked. Before I replaced my plug wires my car would surge power and mis-fire due to a crack in one of the wires.

I'm using the fine wire plugs as are alot of others, no issues. Did you set the gap? If so could very well be the wires.
