Hello everyone. I was just examining my new SHO . An 89 with 63k miles on it. There appears to be some light scrubbing (little bit of shine) on the front intake, primarily over the "S" and the "H". I have read that it could very well be the engine mounts. I plan to pull the tranny because I think the clutch that I this one is gone. Just want to take care of the most things I can in one shot.

Can someone let me know which mounts I should go with if you think I have a mount problem? price for parts? I plan to run the car pretty hard. Probably on the weekends at the drag strip...

Thanks
Michael

If is is a daily driver, I suggest Josh's reinforced mounts. If you don't mind feeling and hearing your engine more, I'd get his "Extreme" mounts.

I believe both are lifetime warranted.

If someone does choose to go with SNP mounts, I suggest the "extreme" mounts. I have a set of SNP mounts, don't know which ones, but anyhow the motor still tries to pop out the hood....very scary! :oogle:

I currently have SHO Shop mounts but I will use Josh's when I swap the motor for a 3.2 later. Josh's appears able to take punishment better than the SS mounts. Josh is good to deal with and is a straight up guy.

I've got the regular inforced mounts on my '92 and extreme on my '95.

I still have movement on my '92, but nothing like popping out of the engine bay. It is no where near the movement of stock though.

My '95 is very harsh to say the least. I don't know what you feel/hear most, the engine or the 3" exhaust.

Are you sure you have Josh's mounts??? Because you don't even know which ones you have.

Yes, they are SNP mounts recently installed. You know the ones with the brace deals inside and bigger bar across. They came with the SHO when I bought it. It may be that I am use to the more solid 89 mounts that have no movement at all. The time when it feels like it's going to jump out is on the 1-2 upshift at WOT and a little on the 2-3. I shift pretty hard, so...that may be another cause on top of the ones I am use to.

That's how most people reinforce the mounts... I'd take a picture and show it to Josh to confirm.

They are indeed! Plus, no one around here reinforces motor mounts that way.

I just haven't checked to see if they were extreme or not, but I don't think they are.

Here is a PICTURE of the RUBBING on the intake. This only has 63k so someone must have been driving the heck out of this...

Your pic didn't show, but I know exactly what you are talking about. I've been driving like a grandma for the past few weeks. *send paypal*
