We've only had our SHO for 2 months. The one problem I notice is the very faint scratches that seem to show up on the glossy plastic of the console. I am careful with what I clean it with. They just seem to be from normal use. Anybody have a way to clean these up easily. I know I'm **** about this but if there is a fix, I'd like to do it.

I have some plastic cleaner laying around the house i'm going to try. It's called Novus plastic cleaner in three steps. I will see if step 1 or 2 takes care of them. I used step 2 on my Chexx game bubble hockey game and it took most of the scratches out of it so step 1 should be fine.

I'm having the same issue and would love to know how to repair it. I also have some scratches on one of the rear door interior pull handles from a cardboard box rubbing against it. It seems like some of the interior materials on this car aren't terribly robust.

Also thinking that maybe one of the headlight restorers like Mothers or Plastix by Meguiars may get most of them out.

Or, take it to Ford and Say, "Hey, I received this with scratches..."

and get a replacement under warranty! ;)

Us the Meguairs plastiX - it will do a good job removing any scratches (as long as they are not deep)!!

My console got scratched too, I think just from a grocery bag or something dragging across it. If someone comes up with a good fix I'd love to hear about it!

Model builders have used Future floor finish to dip plastic windshields in for a super clear look, this might be something to try, but it probably wouldn't be long lasting: http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html

I would get cel phone screen protectors if you can find that material in size big enough - clean the plastic perfectly with a new microfiber wipe and apply. The adhesive should fill in little cracks and protect the surface too.

For re-finishing, this is exactly what the micro-mesh sandpapers are for - if it can re-finish jet fighter canopies, it can probably polish out the acrylic scratches. Look at the headlight refinishing thread. You could start with 12000 grit, if that isn't improving the looks, then go 8000->12000, then 6000->8000->12000, so you are using only the finest grit needed to polish it out.

I just tried novus step 1 and it filled in all the very fine scratches and made the plastic look new again. I have a couple scratches you can feel with your nail and it didn't work on those. Step 2 is an actual abrasive polish that will definitely take anything deeper out. Unfortunately I can't find it, but it's in my house somewhere. When I do I will report back. If you just need to fill in very fine scratches the step 1 will work fine.

Meguairs Scratch X for paint, with some elbow greese it took even the deepest scratches out. Mine looks like new from any angle and I've got 38,000 miles on it.
