I just got some Koni struts, and soon Eibach springs will be here. But I need some advice on bushings to do at the same time. I want to know what is a "must replace" bushing and what is a recommended if you have lots of money. The car has new plastic end links in the front. I want TPR bushings because they supposedly dont squeak like polyurethane does. Heres what SHO nut has for TPR bushings:

  • Polyurethane greasable front sway bar to body bushings (2)

TPR rear sway bar to body bushings (25 or 26 mm) (2)

TPR HD rear endlink kits (2)

Stock (1/2 TPR) front tension strut to subframe bushings (2)

TPR front tension strut to lower control arm bushings (2)

TPR rear tension strut to body bushings (2)

TPR rear tension strut to knuckle bushings (2)

Which of those are best?

You don't list having the 26mm rear bar - is it on your car?

You and I are in a similar situation - I want to replace all the worn out bushings on my car. The tension strut (strut rod) bushings are majorly worn on my car, so it's time. Those can be done without doing any of the other bushings, in the front and rear, but keep in mind they are a major PITA to get off. I had a bear of a time getting the front tension strut off when doing my front LCA last week.

If you were going to do the LCA/strut rod bushing I'd just replace the LCA. It comes with bushings installed.

All of those bushings serve different purposes, except you double up on the Poly and TPR sway bar to body bushings. Just get them and do them all if you think they need replacement.

Yeah I dont have an aftermarket swaybar, or any aftermarket bushings except the subframe. I was thinking of getting all of them, but mainly the ones I can change at the same time as the strut job. I would hate to put everything on and then realize I could've done more. I'm not sure if any are bad, I can only assume some are because the subframe bushings were dry and cracked when I took those out. I guess I could have a mechanic or a friend give it a look and make recommendations.

I replaced all the strut rod bushings (total of 16 bushings), FSB mount (greaseable), RSB mount and link end with ES poly bushings. I am very please with the results; firmer with much improved control. You can also get similar results using the TPR units.

It seems that the SF bushings take a lot of abuse and die at a young age. Personally I would like to do my strut rod bushings, too - all of them are cracking badly. Such a pain in the ass to get them out though

.

I don't think the work gets any easier with the struts off. If you were doing control arms it definitely would get easier.
