Well I just got my 89 SHO back! almost a year later. MTX went out.
538.00 for tranny from wrecking yard. 90 day "parts" warranty. They recomended a shop that would take it apart check the internals and everything. Then the cost at the tranny shop is 250.00 install 309.00 for new clutch, resurface flywheel 25.00, 35.00 for tow. TOTAL 1157. Picked up the car and dove for about ten miles. Shifts are long but I think that was always like that. I did notice that I had a very slight problem shifting when forced quickly at 6000 rpms. ( I do know how to drive.) Maybe it needs a slave adjustment. But no slip, good clutch pedal feel.
Bottom line, I was Stupid! :headbang: I spent too much for what i got. Let me explain. There are some other problems that I wanted fixed so i went to my Honda Mechanic.
He is fantastic. Saves me tons. But He works on all kinds of cars. He said that I just got classicly screwed. If there is a problem with the tranny I have to pay to have it removed then reinstalled. I told him that they checked the transmition. He looked under the hood and said that there was no new sealent in between the trans and the bellhousing. They did not check
the internals. I thought they didn't have to seperate the transmition. I shouldn't be thinking. He said he could have done the jobe twice for as much as I paid, and given me a warranty.
Feel free to stone me to death!
