As far as tunning goes with the amount of work youve done to you car Zach, you can go either way and see increases.for sure one is going to be a **** of a lot cheaper (LPM) while on the other hand the Much more specif tune a TwEEcer is going to yield a better tune producing a higher increase. Once again it comes down to how deep are you pockets are...

Personally as stated in the most of the above posts i would continue to mod you engine and drive-line until you feel that you have max out what is reasonable and or affordable and then begin to research TwEEcers and other tunning applications. I would go for the LPM tuned by SHOsource sooner rather than later for the somewhat decent gains it can offer.

If your really feeling crazy and want to do some pioneering in the tunning world of the SHO for the LPM style of tunes i would look into Lonnie at Blue oval chips(hes the KING of tunning for modular 4.6s for the mustang's and Mark viii's). My brother is running a tune by him and it appears to be fairly impressive so far. (been on for a couple of months now)
Im not sure what all he knows about the SHO motor, he has it listed on the spec sheet. Im more than interested to have someone contact him to see what knows and could do to tune our cars.
Here's his link to his Spec Sheet http://www.blueovalchips.com/orderform.html
And the Main Website http://www.blueovalchips.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=1

Hope this helps,
David

I think some of you are underestimating a good tune.

With Intake and head porting and UDP's is there THAT much to come out of over a stock tune? I totally agree if were talking large amounts of valve, head, intake porting and some exhaust.
just asking, not out to start a war :sun:

Considering that we are talking about fairly low increases in power/torque with NA SHO motors, yes. In addition, working in better driveability and smoother power throughout the power band can make a much more enjoyable car. I learned long ago that the butt dyno can be a liar when my 214whp SHO got beat by a completely stock SHO. Without proper tuning (had an LPM at the time), all the power was up top. After figuring out the TwEECer, it was a different story.

These cars are fairly easy, especially in NA form as they take a bit of effort to blow them up. When it comes to Subaru's, you almost must tune for small modifications. These SHO motors also run leaner... I run my SHO around 12-12.5:1 AFR whereas the WRX and STi's have a sweet spot around 11-11.2:1 AFR. I get worried if it strays to 12:1 in those cars; my SHO won't knock at 13.5:1 of for some reason I fudge something while tuning.

My questions are is is worth it to get a Tweecer or a Moates quarterhorse tuner at this point with my car.

3.2 swap
BBB, PnP
y pipe
UDP
(in case you didnt know)

I have a set of heads that I pulled off my 3.0 that are getting ported, polished, valve work, new valve stem seals, and possibly SHOshop stage 2 cams.

Now I do realize that I kind of need tuning for the cams for the raised idle and such but is it 100% needed?

If I dont get cams can I pull any power out with tuning?

Do you know any internet articals that I can read about tuning. Stuff I need to know. I want to know not only the basics but say for instance adding timing or adjusting the MAF for a bigger MAF.

Also are the 3.0 heads and the 3.2 heads have the same sized combustion chambers?

If you think you are going to get specific TwEECer advice on here, good luck!:laugh_ti:

I've given plenty of it on this board. In addition, when it comes to tuning, there is virtually nothing different between the TwEECer and BE. With that said, they have forums dedicated to this stuff, as well as a manual. :) Just with any tuning rated forum I've ever been on, they expect you to RTFM before asking any questions.

I think what most people are looking for is for the answers that make their car run right/better, when the real answers describe how to come up with the right answer. At that point, it's not a simple answer.

On another note, besides the various differences in tuning parameters for the SHO and my STi, it all handles the numbers the same.

You could always get the Tweecer and talk with pops racing about getting a remote tune.
I have a feeling an LPM won't cut it for you Zach for the reasons already mentioned.
