Ok guys I have been chasing this problem for quite some time now on my 93atx. When I go to start it, it cranks longer than it should, then fires and then it won't start unless you hold the gas to the floor. It also only gets 20mpg on the highway., It has on occasion died on me and been really hard to keep running, but most of the time once started runs like a champ.
It doesn't throw any relevant codes...only tranny temp sensor out of range

130k on car.

I have replaced:
ECT, IAB, cleaned intake, new plugs (motocraft), New wires (ac delco), thermostat, fuel filter

I have swapped:
MAF's - no change

I have also checked:
exhaust for blocks/plugs...it flows freely
Had intake off 3 times now, All grounds connected, no vacuum leaks, all vacuum lines connected properly, etc.
Reset idle numerous times
Cylinder balance test is good
Compression is good in all cylinders

Now on one of my previous posts someone said it's possibly a leaky injector. Is there anyway to check this with car assembled? If I pull them out how can I tell?

You might try checking fuel pressure before immediately condemning an injector as bad. You'll be able to see a pressure drop if an injector is leaking (after you shut the car off).

So let me get this straight. Turn the key to prime the fuel pump, but don't crank car. Get out and check fuel pressure. Turn key off and check pressure and watch for a drop

Now isn't there a drain back valve on the fuel pump? or some other place so the pressure dissipates? IF there is how would I know if its the injector leaking or the drain back valve opening?

Now maybe I am way off, but I know when I have replaced the fuel filter on fuel injected cars there wasn't alot of pressure after letting them sit for some time. This would lead me to believe there is some sort of a pressure release, or drain back valve???

Patiently awaiting a lesson on how the fuel system works :corn:
