Leaking CAC's

Had my car in for a PTU fluid change and they found my CAC's were leaking with less than 8k miles on the odo. Car has been in the shop since yesterday morning and they had to order some more parts. They got me a rental car for free. Funny....it's a 2019 Taurus Limited. Boy, it sure makes me miss my SHO!

How is it leaking?

Not sure yet. However, they DID say that it's leaking onto the cats, so there was a potential fire hazard. When II pick up the car, I'll have more detailed info.

So I thought a CAC was a Charged Air Cooler, but if it's leaking onto the cats posing a fire hazard, what are we talking about?

crud from the pcv system, most likely via a leaky or cracked cac-tb pipe.

From the work order/invoice:

"Found leak at oil feed tube and CAC hard to flex hose permanant coupler. Install new CAC tube ass'y"

Parts total was about 475 dollars and labour about $500. Fortunately all under warranty.

Nice to have 'er back.
