I have a 93 atx that leaks tranny fluid like a seive. It had a blown motor when I bought it so I put a junkyard 3.2 in it and didn't replace any seals on the tranny while I was at it. Don't ask me why because I'll just tell you that I'm a ******* sometimes and I really hate to have to admit that more than absolutely necessary. Ha, now you don't have to ask. Anyway, I had a shop and a forklift when I replaced the motor so I just unbolted the subframe and shocks and lifted the car off of the subframe, almost too easy. Now I don't have any kind of lift, let alone a shop and I need to drop the tranny to fix the seals. I am much more familiar with the mtx trans than the atx and I need to know, first of all if there is enough room to separate and drop the trans out the bottom like you can an mtx or do I have to **** the whole package again? Also, what are my options for refreshing the transmission once it's out? I don't believe it need a complete rebuild, but it would go a quart low every 600 miles or so and I'm a little worried that it might have been damaged some because of this. Your thoughts are appreciated. The car is just sitting right now because I have two mtx's and a two wheeled yamaha that I use to get around and it's supposed to be a donor car (3.2 and nice black interior) for a later project. Until then I have a family member who needs a decent car that gets good gas mileage and is cheap to insure so I need to get it running reliably. Thanks, Chris.

well i had a scare abot a month ago when my tranny started dropping fluid. it must have been the torque converter seal on mine from what i can gather...it was leaking where the engine bolts to the tranny at the oil pan. i found both lower bolts hand loose...

i tightened them, drove a week, no leaks, and for extra measures i put some loctite on the bolts not too long ago. no leaks since...guess im lucky

Hm, that's where mine appears to be leaking from, although I've never checked to see if the bolts were just loose. It's just a don't ask why day I guess.

i dont know what to say really since i had that problem on my 93 GL and once it heated up it would blow some fluid out and id just refill and it'd be good again till one day it blew all the fluid out and that was it.. now the car rests in a junkyard with a good engine in it.. o well no need to cry over a GL.
i dont know if that helps any but id try what ohfosho said if that works then your good if not and you need a atx i got one that i cant seem to get rid of for anything that shifts great and strong with no slippage i took out of my car on a atx to mtx swap. with everything to go with.
PM me if ya need something since all its becoming is junk laying around.

also i dont know if you can drop the engine and subframe outta the bottom on atx, its for sure bigger i know that then the mtx.
i pulled mine all out the top in my backyard with a engine lift with 2 broken wheels lol. if you really wanna get something done anything is possible.

Yeah, I might give you a holler once I get that far. How long has it been sitting, how many miles are on it, and what year is it out of? Anyone pulled just the trans before?

mine was starting to leak there abit too.. found both those bolts were missing. got some new bolts m8x1.25 and they didnt fit.. i guess the threads got pulled making sense as to why there were no bolts there. still havent found a size to fit in it yet. so i bought a 5/16x2" and put a nut at the other end of it. if that is too tight will i run into any problems?
it stopped leaking but seems to knock a little at idle when i'm in drive.
