I have installed these on my Gen 2 about 2 months ago. The KYB Strut Plus's are the complete strut, spring, mount, ass'y just like the Monroe Quick Struts. I absolutely love them but I run everything in my suspension and wheels/tires stock.

Yes these are a new product for KYB, they just came out a the beginning of this year. However the PARTS are not new.. KYB has been making all the parts individually (except for the springs) for years, they just put them all together in an easy-to-install kit.

I work for an automotive repair show that sells both KYB's and Monroe's and in every example I can think of I would choose the KYB's over Monroe's anyday. Monroe is a good product also but you generally pay more for the name. KYB has many more options for specialized applications & dampening than Monroe does (not in the case of the SHO's however).

Don't diss the KYB's unless you've actually tried them. My GEN 2 had the Tokico struts in them when I bought them and I hated them, that's why I swapped all four corners to the new KYB strut plus's. WAYYY better to me.

I would love to see some pictures of how the car sits on KYB's springs.

Never had KYB's in my old SHO but have tried them all in my Stang.

The blues IMHO are horrible / the grey GR2's were "ok" but I had too much bounce and that wasn't good at the track. The drag front struts, (white) 5 way adj were great untill I hit a dead animal on the highway and blown the pass side out. Swapped them all out for Strange adj all around which i'm currently using and LOVE !!!!

About 25k on my GR-2s with Cut Moogs. No pogo, and the ride is still fine.
I too am getting tired of people bashing KYB.

They wouldnt bash them if they were good struts.

This is seriously a case of "non news is good news"

If there are no complaints, then they are good to go. Obviously, there are complaints.

And 25k isnt nearly enough.

I have more than double that on my moog/monroe setup, and the struts are still operating as designed. Havnt checked the pricing between the two recently, but Id bet the sensatracs are cheaper than the KYBs too.

Funny, you should replace your struts at 35k. According to Monroe, it will save a Squirrel.

The only useful responses to this OP are from those who have tried the product and they say they work very well. Comments from know it alls who diss products they have not tried and have never even ridden in a car that has them are pointless and useless.

Reminds me of several of my friends who over the years have seen me drinking a Guinness and say "how can you drink that awful stuff; it is so harsh and filling", yet they have never tried a sip and do not know it has less calories and carbs than Lite....and now, most of these same people now drink Guinness more than anything !!

Thats a pretty stupid point of view. :swing:

I guess we are not allowed to supply negative feedback for products now, regardless if they should get it or not.

Thanks for the update. :hail::laugh_ti:

So how long have you had them on your car so that you can say they are no good, and what did you replace them with after not liking them that are so much better, or who's car have you ridden in that has them ? The only guy who has installed them and responded so far said he replaced Tokico's and said they work much better for him. This is exactly my point

I have never installed them on either of my SHOs. I listen and make note of other people experiences. I find it stupid to make the same mistake, and suffer from it.

Ive ridden in a few SHOs with them. With stock springs, they hold up for a while. Eibachs o Intrax? Forget it. They simply do not have the dampening capability for the SHO on stiff/lowing coils.

I took the chance on sensatracs with my modified Moog coils a long time ago.

Im still enjoying them, 50+k miles later. And it was a DIRT cheap setup.

I see no reason to buy coils that have a long standing bad rap, just because one or two members had a good experience. While suspension parts might not be all that expensive, it is a butt-load of labor involved, and I wouldnt want to try a questionable strut, only to find they ARE garbage, and have to redo the entire thing. Such a waste.

Okay, here goes!! I installed the GR2's on all four corners on my 94 5-speed back in 07'. Since then, I have put 38,000+ miles on my whip. I think they work great for my application, no troubles, no complaints here!

This thread is about the KYB full strut which is a new bolt on replacement, not how a GR-2 works with another manufacturers / lowering springs. The strut insert with this unit (may or may not have the exact same damping as the GR 2), is designed to work with the springs and mounts they provide which may be different rates than OEM too, and might not raise the ride height like Monroe Sensatrack quickstruts, which is undesirable for looks, and raising the CG is not a benefit to handling. Lets be glad there is another replacement part for the SHO on the market for those who do not want to lower their vehicle and have a nice smooth ride as well as improved handling at a much lower cost than motorcraft OEM parts. Hope SHO source gets the KYB AGX to work on the SHO as that is a super setup with adjustable damp and rebound and Koni is the only option for a performance strut at this time.

That is exactly why I asked this question in the first place. I have seen pictures of Monroe's Quick-Strut, and I really don't like the way they sit.

As we all know, our cars are prone to sagging original springs. Restoring true factory ride hieght and feel is what a spring/strut combo should do.

I have seen one post where somone said they put these on a car. I am still awaiting pictures of that car on KYB's springs.
