Has anyone had any experiance with the KYB Strut-Plus strut and spring combo? I just came across them on TireRack.com. I've never seen them there before. It's says "new", I'm just not sure how new that really is.

My experience with KYBs in combonation with Intrax springs was let's picture this...pogo stick of a ride.:angelnot:

The gray ones made for the SHO are the worst , but I heard good stories about other KYB series made for other cars , question is , what series are the new ones you're talking about?

Never seen those before, some "G" style they call it? I'd be skeptical, considering how ****** their alternative to these for our cars are.
price of these = 600 plus tax and shipping
Sensa tracs = 170 out the door if you look hard enough
eibach = 220 plus tax and shipping.
I just don't see why you'd spend so much more money to have it already assembled with worse components.

They're actually more like $600 to your door. (F=$150ea/R=$137ea)
I don't see how we can compare Eibach's to these. These are meant as a stock replacement.
They also come with everything new-
-KYB Excel-G Strut
-KYB Coil Spring
-Bearing Plate
-Boot Kit & Bumper
-Upper Spring Seat
-Upper and Lower Isolators
There are comparable to the Monroe's Quick-Struts, and from RockAuto.com the price is not way off base in comparison.
I wonder how these springs sit and ride?

Ya, I never heard of them either. I was hoping somone else had already been the guinea pig for me.
Eibachs have a higher rate and lower the car about an inch in the front and half inch in the rear. They definitely don't sit/ride like stock springs.

The eibach ride height isnt really a fair comparison, considering its usually tired old stockers that are being replaced. (from other sho's ive seen with them) But like you said, the spring rates are higher so its more of a firm ride.
First time Ive heard of these. Im suprised they made them. Last time we rallied for the the adjustable AGX's for the SHO we were turned down. I guess if you can get a decent warranty its worth a try.

So I guess the conclusion is that no one has had any experience with these. I'm gonna have to look further into this.

I think that's an accurate conclusion. This is the first I've heard of them, and with these forums and the lists and such I think if anyone had tried them someone would have mentioned it by now.
Do they come with any kind of return policy? If so, I say give them a try!
They seem to be nothing more then Monroe Quick struts. They also seem to be no better the GR2, look here: KYB

Why? The KYB strut is a good strut. Just not with an intrax spring. I have the GR2's on my dad's 95 ATX with uncut moog springs, and it is just fine. You guys (not you in general - blanket statement here) and your opinions are half good, half horseshit.

Agreed. I personally like KYB's struts. This is one of the only places I see them getting bashed so much. I have never tried them on an SHO, so I admit I can't say for sure there, but KYB makes a pretty good product.
On the other hand, I have never really liked Monroe's to much, but again this is just my personal opinion. They always seemed very "soft" to me. Great for a Buick, but not for performance.

I have installed these on my Gen 2 about 2 months ago. The KYB Strut Plus's are the complete strut, spring, mount, ass'y just like the Monroe Quick Struts. I absolutely love them but I run everything in my suspension and wheels/tires stock.
Yes these are a new product for KYB, they just came out a the beginning of this year. However the PARTS are not new.. KYB has been making all the parts individually (except for the springs) for years, they just put them all together in an easy-to-install kit.
I work for an automotive repair show that sells both KYB's and Monroe's and in every example I can think of I would choose the KYB's over Monroe's anyday. Monroe is a good product also but you generally pay more for the name. KYB has many more options for specialized applications & dampening than Monroe does (not in the case of the SHO's however).
Don't diss the KYB's unless you've actually tried them. My GEN 2 had the Tokico struts in them when I bought them and I hated them, that's why I swapped all four corners to the new KYB strut plus's. WAYYY better to me.

About 25k on my GR-2s with Cut Moogs. No pogo, and the ride is still fine.
I too am getting tired of people bashing KYB.
That is what it is good for, as a stock strut. There have been a lot of failures especially with Eibachs.
