Okay, hopefully, this thread posts in the right place today.

I'm putting suspension on my '91 SHO. I'm using 5-way Konis with Eibach coilovers. Summit Racing has just about any spring rate ya want for the Eibach coilovers, but I haven't settled on which spring rate I want yet.

I'll be using the car primarily for a daily driver, and sometimes, I'll have up to 200 lbs of extra weight in the trunk. I plan to track the car at the SHO convention, and maybe go to the track here and there afterward.

I want a pretty stout spring rate for carrying that 200 lbs of weight in the rear, and I want a stiff spring rate for the track, too.

Toolman used to use 700 front and 600 rear for his spring rates, but I wasn't sure which struts he had when he posted that.

I don't want to wear out the Konis quickly, so I don't want an excessive spring rate on them. They'll be on the firm setting all the time. What spring rate would you recommend?

Someone's here who autocrosses suggested a max of 500 front and 430 rears since it's primarily street driven. Any other opinions?

Thanks so much!

You will not want 700lb springs for a street driven car. 400/300 would probably be a nice compromise.

Stock valved konis will not last long with crazy spring rates, max is prob 500. My konis were revalved for the specific spring rate.

Ahhhh, good to know. Thanks.

This one kit I have I just found out is 250 for the rear, and that's too low for me. I'd like around 380. May have to order some new springs.

I have 430ish lb front springs and the car rides firm, but its far from extreme or unbearable.

Nice. Thanks.

I'm liking 430. Apparently, Summit only has 400 or 450, though. 400's close enough, I suppose. I have an extra 40 lbs in the front, so maybe 450 is fine.

I suppose 300 or 350 in the rear would suffice.

Its likely mine are 450 then, I got them from Sam (SHOspazz92). I really ought to write it down somewhere. Lol

I bought a used set of Konis and coilovers. Apparently, the fronts are 600, and the rears are 250. The fronts are gonna be too stiff and wear out quickly, and the rears will be a little weak. I have three sets of springs, so maybe I can mix and match them to get the ride I want. I may have to settle for 250 in the back and order some 350s for the front.

Summit Racing has Summit Racing springs for around $40, and QA1 springs for about $38. Not bad. I may order a couple of those. Any known problems with those brands of springs?

I don't know what my Ground Control coilovers have for front spring that I ordered from Midwest SHO way back in the day but it rides like poo. It is way to stiff. Anybody know what rates came with that kit and what I should get to keep from knocking my teeth out?

I think stock springs are 200 lb/in in front and 160 lb/in in back. If you want a good ride that's not too stiff, I'm thinking 300/200 is probably a good compromise. If you get them from Summit Racing, make sure they're the right diameter and the same length as your old coil-overs. Diameter is 2.5".

I used to love the old Tokico/Eibach combination. They rode great. I don't know the Eibach spring rates, though. Good luck.
