for a while now there has been an intermittent knocking noise on the right side of the engine when idling ine neutral. It sounds like the area behind the coil pack. Sometimes my car seems like it has been losing power during accelerating or it will gain it back if I let off the accellerator and then continue. Is this a problem with the cranks being off timing?

Take a long screwdriver, put the DULL end to your ear, and move it around.
Sounds like a cam chain tensioner.. Try both front and rear cam covers.
Engine needs to be running, of course. It could be a noisy injector, maybe..
Does it do it on cold start up? Or all the time? My front cam chain tensioner
was making noise for a while, I put some Berryman's and A.T.F. in the
crankcase, and let it idle for 30 min., and changed the oil.. No more noise.
