My car recently developed a knocking noise. While investigating where is was coming from I noticed that the crank pulley looked like it was wobbling. It appears to be tight and undamaged but while running it wobbles and a noise comes from that area. I have no clue. Something to note was that I had the Manual transmission changed about 5000 miles ago by a Ford dealer. Plus I had just gotten a fuel injector cleaning at the same dealer. Any ideas anyone?

Don't turn it on until you get it fixed!!

The pulley could wobble enough to break the "woodruff key" off and you'd be doing some major crankshaft work..

Doesn't sound like anything related to the fuel injectors, except that injectors CAN make a loud "ticking" noise if they're not working exactly right. (Or if they're new??)

You can get a 'mechanic's stethoscope' to listen around and make sure you know where the noise is coming from.

On a side note, my clutch went out at 167k miles with NO indicators that it was bad. I took the crankshaft pulley off to change the sensor and put it back on. Sometimes other stuff breaks when you touch the opposite end of the car.. :madflame:
Maybe your tranny change hastened a breakdown?

Should I take the pulley off to inspect and if so how would I do this? Does a standard pulley remover work?
