We have a 1997 Taurus SHO with keyless entry (illuminated with keypad on the door). We are trying to program the keyless entry, but cannot find the original code.

Now, here's the twist:

The inside of the trunklid has been repainted, so can't find the code there.
There is no manual, so can't find the code there.

Does anyone know where I can find the code to program the remote entry?

Thanks,

James

the bad news is that you have to go to the ford dealer so they can hook up their scanner to it to extract the code for you. it shouldn't cost that much at all thumbs_u

If your afraid that they might "charge" you for their time ....... Just give them your VIN over the phone.

(just tell them your keys are stuck inside with the engine running)

Had the same problem when I bought mine from Carmax. There is two places where it's located. One- inside truck underneath rear deck. Two-sticker mounted on the side of computer module, you can get the this one by crawling in the driver side floor on your back, look for the black box to the left of the brake pedal, the sticker is hard to see but it's there. It's a white sticker 5inchs X 2 inches. it will have the code there. Good luck!! :p

I thought I heard once that you can verify the code by taking apart the 'black box' in the trunk and "reading" the transistors. I also remember someone had given the directions for changing the code to one they want, by re-soldering the aforementioned transistors. I think I saw it on shotimes.com. Hope you have luck with it.

I just found this link. Even if you don't want to change your code, this procedure will at least tell you how to figure out your current code. Hope this helps!
