I just bought a new keyless entry remote from the local ford shop. How do I calibrate it for the car?

Thanks

what year do you have?? if you have a 96 all you have to do is turn the key to the off / run position 3or 4 times then your locks will lock / unlock the push any button on the remote and it should get programed make sure you program all the remotes at one time or they wont all work

On a 95 you have to get into the trunk and pull down the carpeting thats located on the left side of the trunk near the fuel shut off button. On this side of the trunk you'll see a connector that must be grounded. Ground this connector and then turn the ignition switch to the run position. At this time you will the doors either lock or unlock(not sure which one). Once the door locks do this, you need to hit either lock, or unlock on the remote. This will program you RKE system and you should be good to go. After these steps, remove the ground and put the trunk carpeting back in place..and then eat some cookies and play with the panic button :) Trust me, It's fun. There may be a step or 2 that I'm leaving out, but I'm sure that others will chime in to help.

oh my god...you don't even understand....

when i got my car, the guy i bought it off of said that the batteries had died in the controls, and all i had to do was get new ones and have them programmed. so i got the batteries, and went to my local dealer. the guy was like turn the key to teh on position 8 times, and your locks will go up and down if you have remote keyless enrty. of course that didn't work on my 95. i just went outside and did what you said, and now they work! that'll teach me to listen to a dealer i guess...i have been living without it for 3 months!

Thanks though, now they work! kickass!

Glad to have helpped. Now we all know that dealers are cluless and this just reaffirms that thumbs_u The procedure I posted should work for SHO's up until 95 MY. The procedure that the dealer told you is for 96 and later FoMoCo vehicles.

Ok another question. I noticed that the ground plug was the typical ford ground plug. Can I just use a spare one from a mustang?

What would you need a spare one for?? The way that you ground that plug is to take a single wire(speaker wire worked for me) that is about 12 inches in length and just plug both ends into both ends of the ground plug.
