Keyless Entry Remote Stopped working

Ok first off... I'm a noob, and have only had this car since the end of May. so please take it easy.
Wife drove the car today, and the key fob stopped locking and unlocking the doors. Replaced the battery in the fob... still no joy. Took the fob into autozone to see if it was transmitting on their little tester. It was working fine. Apparently it somehow became de-programmed to the car. Has anyone ever had this happen to them, and if so, is there any way I can re-program it without having to take it up to the dealership? On a side note. The car still starts using the IA key. It just wont lock or unlock the doors. Any help would be great.

Yes - note that you need to put it into the little holder in the centre console - read the manual as its all in there!

NOTE: All RKE transmitters must be programmed at the same time.

NOTE: Do not apply the brake pedal during this sequencing, as doing so ends the sequence and the transmitters will not be programmed.

Electronically unlock the door locks using the door lock control switch.
Cycle the ignition switch from the OFF to the RUN position 8 times in rapid succession (within 10 seconds), with the eighth turn ending in RUN. If the module successfully enters program mode, it locks and then unlocks all the doors.
NOTE: If no action is taken within 20 seconds after a transmitter has been programmed, the programming sequence ends (the doors lock and unlock to confirm that programming is complete).

Within 20 seconds, press any button on the RKE transmitter to be programmed. The doors lock and then unlock to confirm that each RKE transmitter is programmed. Repeat this step for each RKE transmitter.
Exiting the programming mode is accomplished if one of the following occurs:
The key transitions to the OFF position.
Twenty seconds have passed since entering programming mode or since the last RKE transmitter was programmed.
The maximum number (4) of RKE transmitters have been programmed.
Check the operation of the transmitter. If the door locks do not respond for the programmed RKE transmitter(s), wait several seconds and press the button again. If the door locks still fail to respond, refer to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems — Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) in this section. (Make sure that no more than the maximum number of RKE transmitters are attempted to be programmed.)

I guess I am even more of a newb here lol, how did you change the battery in the fob... Beside being able to remove the key, I cannot see how to open it... Once I will know how to open, I will see what type of battery is required, but maybe you could tell me that also.

One important thing to remember is whenever you have to replace a battery in a remote, you will have to re-program(following the procedure listed above) ALL REMOTES. It is one of the security programs built into the remote entry process.

PS: One issue I've encountered over the years is remote battery life being reduced if found in close contact with electronic devices. I've never seen anything formally stating this, but my wife's old Focus remote would run through batteries quite often, until I had her keep her keys stored away her cell phone. It may be the cell's electronics messing up the battery charge or something similar, but she has never needed another battery change.

ok, i'm not sure what I did, but Did Key relearn proceedure, that didn't work, also tried key-on-off thing. no joy there either. walked away from it for a couple hours, got back into it to try reprogramming it with the key on-off 8 times, and as I was going out to it. The remote started working. It is the goofiest thing I have ever seen. as far as the Remote. it takes a CR-2032. to get to it. take your emergency key out of the FOB, then reach into your pocket and get a dime out. Then take the dime and stick it into the slot at the top of the remote that was covered by your emergency key and twist. the back will pop off and you should see your battery. There is some di-electric grease on the terminals, be sure NOT to wipe that off when replacing the battery.

I ran in to this on my 2007 G35S, sort of. Not so much from other electronics, but from leaving the fob in a cup holder in the car. When parked in the rear of my alarmed garage, I would leave the keys in the car. After the car/keys sat for about a week during the winter, the car would not start and it told me "no key detected". I checked the battery in the fob and sure enough it was dead. I bought the car new and had only had the car about 6 months at this point. I replaced the battery in the fob and made sure to keep the fob away from the car. The battery still worked fine 2 years later when I traded the car in for the SHO.
