How can I make the annoying noise from the key/light reminder stop? Is it a simple fix or does it require some work?

Thanks

I am an ex locksmith, and I know that you have to remove the ignition switch, key cylinder, and then remove the small metal tab inside the cylinder that the key touches when it is fully inserted. When the tab is removed...no more noise. To remove the lock cylinder, remove the plastic trim around the column, and then you should see the lock cylinder housing. With the key turned to the "ON" position you should be able to depress the pin the retains the cylinder in the housing and slide the unit out. Then remove the metal tab. ***These are only suggestions, and I claim no responsibility if any damage occurs.*** Attempt at your own risk!! But it really is pretty simple.

OK, I just re-read your question.....That WILL NOT do anything for the light reminder. I didnt see that part of the question at first. Sorry for the confusion on my part.

That is the first thing I disconnected on every SHO I have owned. Basically because I was always working on my stereo and had the doors open. It should take no more than 30 seconds to disconnect. It is located under the dash on the drivers side. It is directly above the gas pedal. It is a black box with a large wiring harness. Just unplug! If you need a picture I can get one.

There is a lot of wires coming out of it but it does not seem to effect anything else by being unplugged.

The problem is with the bezel/ears of the ignition cylinder.

Most people replace the cylinder, from what I've seen, but I also remember reading somewhere about being able to pull it apart, and re-crimp something that came undone, and that should fix it for quite a while.

Thought it was on http://www.shotimes.com, but couldn't find it there. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please post!
