Can anyone other than Ford program new keys. I only have one (can't do it myself), and don't want to pay the $82 to have them program a new one.

I believe Ford is the only place. Its a shame you don't live closer to Jersey, you could come to my dealership and you could be my "customer", and get your key done for like $30 bucks.

I found this "how to" while running some searches on the PATS keys. I hope it proves useful, apparently the process is the same for all Ford PATS with the caveat that you will need two originals if your car is a 1998 or later model.

Program a PATS Key
http://fordf150.net/howto/patskey.htm

I've not tried it yet due to the need of first getting a PATS blank (or two) cut.

Cheers

Thats good news for 96-98 SHOs, but Wess still needs to tke his SHO to a dealership. I guess its good the the keys for 99 up fords and Mercs are so secure, its just a pian to have it done, and it can be pricey.

I called the dealer where I got my SHO back in August. The sales guy that sold me the car no longer worked there, but I talked to another rep and explained my situation. Without any hassle, he offered to do the key and service at cost. $12 for the key, $36 for the programming.

Thanks for the help!
