Hey guys. I got a 15 Sho non pp. Lms tune 93 octane 3bar v11. Catless downpipes. Ran awesome till yesterday. Has been tuned with downpipes for 6months or so. I had that hose blow off on intake. I clamped it down. Ever since it blew off ive been having issues with weird intake sound and missfiring at idle only. P0302 and p0316. So i took out the spark plug on cylinder 2. Looked fine. Put a new one in anyway. Still got code. I swapped the coil with cylinder 4. Still got code. I put electric greese on coil plug. Still got code. I had it running and unpluged the coil. Got alot worse. So the spark must be working when plugged in. It is fine when im driving. Idle is rough and if im at a light for while the idle will get bad and cel will flash. Till i rev it for a bit or get driving. Anyone expirence this yet. I used crc intake cleaner and it didnt make a difference on idle or for the code. I also use techron 2 times a month. I hear alittle squak noise in the intake when i lift. I have k and n intake pipe and filter. I usually hear compressor slam from filter and pipe but this squak noise is new. I dont hear intake leaks when driving either just weird barking noise when i lift haha. Idk what to call it. It squaks its barks. Sounds weird. Can it be an injector issue for 302 code? It does drive and floor it fine just rough idle. I also have a noisemaker eliminator pipe comming tomorrow because i think that may be some of the issue. I called lms but they acted like they wernt knowledgeable on the engine platform. Must of been a sales guy. Thanks

Oil and antifreeze are both still full. No changes there so i dont think its a blown out cylinder

Could definitely be an injector issue since the plug and coil check out fine. The reasons for a P0316 code are:
  • Damaged or defective Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP)
  • CKP sensor wiring or connector fault
  • Poor fuel quality
  • Ran out of fuel
  • Ignition system malfunction
  • Fuel system malfunction: injector or fuel pump
  • Mechanical engine problem
  • Damaged PCM
https://www.obd-codes.com/p0316

Check and clean the IAT & MAP sensors. Also associated wiring for the VCT solenoids and cam position sensors.

How old is the battery in the SHO, btw? Check for CCAs (voltage not enough). Since revving seems to cure the rough idle.

Ive actually did some looking and thinking. Looking at the math of how the cylinders are fed by air, cylinder 2 could be the worse effected cylinder from the pcv and carbon deposits. So im gunna spend some time cleaning out the intake good. Since my issue is only at idle so maybe the intake valve is sticking open from carbon buildup. No issues when im actually driving or flooring it

I ran alot of crc gdi intake cleaner into it. It ran better for a couple minutes but i still have a miss with code p0302. Idle is shaking the same. Gets rough at a redlight then the cel flashes then its like a dead miss driving and limiting the rpm to like 2k. So i pull over. Plug in mycal and pull only code 302. And clear it. Start it up and drive home. Still idles rough. Antifreeze is full and oil is full but im hoping its not an injector

I'm hoping it is an injector.

If it's not, your down to base engine. You can do a manual compression and cylinder leak don't on #1 & 3and compare to 2.

Single cylinder misfire is spark, fuel injector, circuits to the former or base engine. Fule pressure, inputs, air are going to affect other cylinders.

If you rule out the injector and the engine with the above tests.... cylinder head time. Sticking valves. You can kinda confirm the valve train fault by monitoring intake vacuum, but this is kinda an art. And I'm no good that kinda art.

I installed eco power parts noisemaker eliminator. Didnt make a difference on the low rpm miss fire. So i took map out of that pipe to spray 2 cans of seafoam in. Drove agressivly. Made a big difference when flooring it and driving. Still get code and miss fire at low idle. Im gunna order an injector and have a local shop install it. I dont have the gdi tools for injector or the will to do it haha. Hoping its a stuck injector. Funny this is literally live directlu across from a ford dealer. I can throw a small rock at the gt350 on the showcase ramp but i wont but they will just complain above the catless downpipes and everything to work around it. Oh i also had battery tested. Tested good everywhere. Interior lights flicker while its missing also. Ill just get an motorcraft injector from rockauto and have a small shop do the labor. ill keep posting till its fixed for others for troubleshoot

I would consider getting all injectors replaced while in there. Unless you are getting a sweet deal on labor for just the one. Injectors are definitely expensive ... Mileage on your 2015? I assume no powertrain warranty left?

The squeak noise though is probably normal for the blowoff valve. Some people like to enhance it further with duck calls :D

I cant find anyone to do the work. They are afraid of the ecoboost engines around here. Ill order oem injector off rockauto. 90$. Not bad. And do it myself. I work on all my own vehicles and build big block engines. Im just not sure how to release fuel pressure. Time to learn a new engine. Are there any good writeups on it. I cant even find a repair manual? Oh. 71k. Ill need a catchcan also. Oil blowby is insane on these engines. Yet oil and coolant are full still. Maybe carbon on injector. It is in there with the kaboom.

Well guys. Im going to try 1 more thing tomorrow. Im gunna pull a stupid and drill a small hole im my intercooler. My buddy has a sho and said his did the same mine is doing and that fixed it. My map sensor on pipe is oil soaked. So i clean it. Start it up. Run for 10 mins idle. Take it back out. Oil coated again. Im sure the intercooler is full of oil. Im gunna try it. No matter what. If nothing comes out or alot. Im gunna fab up a sealer bolt for it at work on CAD. Id rather try this first then do an injector it may not need. Ill keep posted

Owners manuals are purchased as a digital copy from Helm. There is a thread on it here, or check out your owners manual or the digital copy of the owner's manual on line.

If you disable the low pressure fuel pump, start the car it will run till there's no pressure left.

The high pressure fuel lines are one time use.

When you remove one injector, replace the seals for the other two. They are Teflon. Supposed to be stretched and resized with special tools.

I wouldn't put a hole in your c.a.c. but it's your car. Wouldn't it just be easier to remove the intake hose and use a bore scope to look for mud?

Yeah, you should scope the intercooler, drain any crud, monitor how quickly it builds up. Drilling supposedly has worked for people, but IIRC the intercooler is plastic, so be careful. I would rather you put in a drain plug than leave it open and draining. At least the system stays sealed that way. Remember to jack up the drivers side to get all the fluid to the pass side and make it easier to remove more/all of the crud.

The cac on the sho is a loop pressure intercooler. So even stuff on bottom does come out. I would run around for a bit for it to circulate some more out. Then i cap it. Im working on a drain plug for it actually. Like a petcock but straight up and down if i have room. Itll make a mess under the cad but id rather have a mess then have a misfiring or clogged engine. People are either for it or totally against it. I would rather have a small boost leak then have continuous engine damage or clogging. And the noisemaker up top is more of a boost leak then the little hole on bottom of cac. Worth a try. I was looking into a better design intercooler anyway haha. So i figure itll be replaced sooner or later. Ill keep posted. I plan on doing it tomorrow afternoon

If you have room you could fashion a drain plug with an extension hose like they have for catchcans to make emptying easier. I do believe this to be a bandaid rather than a proper solution regardless. Like checking the PCV valve and oil separator / changing it altogether, switching to a low-volatility high quality full synthetic oil, etc.. Funny that most SHOs do not experience this problem, would be interesting to find out the real reason these exceptions are occurring.

I live in the north east. Condensation gives us issues on everything. Never had this issue till it got real cold last week at night to 70s in the day. I had issues in the high humidity and the rain also. Probably why most Shos dont see this issue is because i am running catless downpipes. Its very bad on shaftseals of the turbos. I install shaft seals everyday on jet engines. They are designed to a certain amount of pressure on either side so if you releave backpressure on the shaft seal. It going against its design and that is why you see more oil get past them then. Shaft seals also are ment to leak a certain amount like piston rings or sealing rings. Usually only 80-90 percent light free when they are manufactured and tested in leakage rigs. So it is a bandade to the issue if you have reduced backpressure to the turbos. The only real way to get rid of oil buildup in the intercooler is to eliminate pcv into the intake before it or upgrade your turbos for reduced backpressures. Most shos wont see this because they are running stock downpipes and cats. Backpressure change from the catback i wouldnt think would be enough of a big change like a true straight pipe system. As i have

Hey guys. So i drilled a whole on passenger side. And a good bit came out. I let the car sit on 2 ramps level. So all the gunk was level. Im gunna crank it up to the side then to let it drain better but this is what i got

Grinder was just to trim some of the support. Just made a little box cut so i could see the plastic side of the cooler. I dont know if this will "bandaid" my issue. But im happy i did it. Because oil came out. Ill clear codes with mycal and go for a drive soon and get back
